🔮 Remember the future | Toolbox #6
Would you like to go back to the future?
This workshop allows you to project yourself in a more or less near future to identify and anticipate each action to be implemented for the success of a project.
We turned your crystal ball into a template.
Both fun and interactive, this template is perfect if you’re starting a new project.
Project yourself into the future
The workshop is based on studies in cognitive psychology that have examined how we think about the future.
For example, if you ask participants “What should the product do ?”, you’ll get a multitude of trivial and unconstructive answers. The question to ask is extremely important.
Now rephrase the question. “What do you like about the product and what did it do for you?”. You then push the participants to project themselves into the future and imagine the reasons for the success of the product. The ideas you get will be more creative, rich and detailed.
🧠 Who: stakeholders, users
📆 When: before launching a new project (or a sprint)
⏰ Duration: 1h
📝 Preparation : find the right question to ask participants
The course of the meeting
1️⃣ Scenario presentation 🎬 (5 min)
Explain the scenario to participants and transport them to the future by telling them a story:
“We are in XXX, at the end of the project. You have been working on the project for X months now. It’s time to take stock of how far you’ve come and ask yourself the question: XXX?”.
2️⃣ Idea generation💡 (15 min)
Set a deadline: in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years,…
— 1st step : Timeline (status at the end of the project) 🟪
Ask participants to describe the situation at that time.
— 2nd step: Intermediate
Once the deadline situation is defined, ask participants to describe a scenario that will achieve the deadline situation by going back in time.
3️⃣ Pooling 🧠 (40 min)
After filling in their post-its, participants can take turns placing them on the table while presenting their ideas in more detail.
Once you have completed the various steps, you will be able to derive an action plan and milestones or ideas that could be implemented.
4 good reasons to look forward to the future 😉

- Have a common vision of a successful project.
Now that you’ve taken a leap into the future, you’re in a position to take the best actions and make your plans a reality! 🛸
